In the book “Night” Elie kept saying, “Night was falling.” or “Night had fallen.” When his family showed up to the concentration camp they were told that they would not be there for long. After that for Elie it was just one long night. Elie Wisel can mean anything by his saying “Night was falling.” It would make the most sense that Night represents that once the Holocaust began it was nothing but a painful endurance. After Elie and his father got to the camp they were constantly working and were starved. Everyone was sleep deprived and were expected to work in terrible weather conditions with also a lack of food.
