Thomas Edison was one of the most influential person that help lead to the age of industrialization. The method of invention, the new incandescent light bulb, and his marketing for products are just a few examples of his turning point to the age of industrialization. The time period where Thomas lived was not a very technological time. So of course any and every invention was a huge success. Edison was born on February 11th, 1847 in Milan, OH. His parents were Samuel Ogden Edison, Jr and Nancy Matthews Elliott. He was the youngest sibling of seven. Because of the scarlet fever and hearing problems, Edison was nearly deaf as a child. He created the world's first industrial research laboratory. Thomas was a very savvy businessman. He is so important because if it was not for his invention of the light bulb, there is a possibility we could still be in the dark.
Thomas Edison is most known for his invention of the light bulb. This invention pretty much changed history in my opinion. I have read where people were afraid to turn the light off once they got it on because of them being afraid of it not coming back on. Before this invention people had to use oil lamps. Many people tried to invent the lightbulb but it would burn out as soon as it came on. In 1882, the Pearl Street generating station provided 110 volts of electrical power to 59 companies. Along with him being known for inventions, he also had a few quotes that he was famous for. A few are “Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration.”, “I have not failed. I have just found 10,000 ways that did not work.” and “Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success and they gave up.” Edison has many more quotes but these are a few of my favorites. To me they all have a similar meaning that is if you fail or do not achieve something, keep trying because it only means that you can work harder to get more answers or
