To know a person is to get into their skin and walk around in it. In To Kill a Mockingbird there are several characters that you think you got figured out, but then they turn out to be a completely different person. For example Boo, you think that he is a killer in the first half of the book until you get to meet him. Another example is Tom Robinson. At first, he may look guilty, but you quickly find out that he is innocent. One last example is Mrs.Dubose, at first she can seem like a mean old lady that just criticizes children but she turns out to be just trying to get over something. First, let's look at Boo’s situation. When Jem was showing Dill the radley's place, they were talking about Boo and how they never saw him. Towards the end of the book, Boo ends up saving the kids from Mr.Ewell. This shows the kids that Boo is just a shy person that is self conscious about his looks and that he is just a really nice guy with some bad rumors about him. Next, let's look at Tom’s situation. At first, the reader has no evidence, so the reader thinks that he could be guilty. Once all the evidence has been shown, however, it is clear that he is innocent. It even took the racist jury 3 hours to convict him. But when they came back, they still convicted him.
