To Kill a Mockingbird is from Jean Scout Finches perspective. Scout is the daughter of Atticus Finch, a judge. She has a big brother named Jem Finch. Scout and Jem have a friend named Dill Harris who comes down to their hometown, Maycomb, Alabama every summer to visit his aunt, who is also their neighbor. Scout has a colored housekeeper named Calpernia, who is also the mother figure she grew up with. The kids were always interested in their neighbor across the street, Arthur Radley, also known as Boo. Boo was rumored to have done a lot of stuff, because of this he decided it's best if he just stays in his house. The kids find this weird so, in response, they try everything in their power to get him out of his house. Later on, in the book Atticus gets assigned to a case were a black man named Tom Robinson was accused of raping a white girl named Mayella. He did end up …show more content…
Shows how people only thought of Atticus differently because he was defending a black man. Everyone in town was dumbfounded by how Atticus still took the case, they all thought he was stupid for it. They would call him all sorts of names. Everyone knew he was going to lose because the justice system will always take a white man's word over a black man. He never backs down though. During the trail, Dill started crying because of how harsh they were talking to Tom. Scout had to take him outside where they ran into the town “crazy man” he was only considered crazy because he married and had kids with a black man that was when he gave the kids really good advice, he told them” his kids were amazed by his work, even though he lost. The kids were confused as to why but ended up coming up with a solution that no matter what Atticus said or did, they would have lost anyway. That's just how the court is.
