I strongly believe that the legal limit of driving should be reduced, from eighteen to seventeen; as it has a positive impact on the state of Victoria and all of the soon to be legal drivers. As the Victoria will be equal to all of the other states within the whole of Australia. The seventeen year olds will become a more independent and confident driver, reducing the age will also have a lasting impact on the legal guardians. This new law will also impact on teens who have apprenticeships or live in rural areas.

So it is your seventeenth birthday and you have reached 120 plus hours of driving, and you’re ready to go for your driving test to receive your P1 probationary licence. In that upcoming next twelve months you will become an independent driver. The difference between you getting your P1 when you’re eighteen vs seventeen, is that once you are eighteen you have the influences of alcohol and going out (to like clubs and bars for example). For that seventeen year he/she will be an independent driver for a whole year without any influences for alcohol or going out. That would be valuable towards that driver as they would become even more experienced on the roads by themselves and more dependant.

As in today’s society some many of us are depending on others to get us places such as school, games and trainings, work and to other important destinations. Lowering the driving age would be more useful as they wouldn’t have to rely on
