Arcade Machines
Arcade games are game machines that the player can find in town centres, restaurants, arcade shops and many others. Arcade machines are played by inserting a coin and have a couple of lives and the players goal is to get a high score or go through many levels. Arcade machines were popular in the 1970s and 1980s but people still play them in present day. Arcade games have short levels but gets harder as the player progresses. The console is very big and the player would have to sit or stand in front of the machine and press simple buttons to play the game. The controls could be arrow keys, gun, or a stick. They were competing with other console such as Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii. This console was the first to use Blu-ray Disc, which means people can watch films on it; the Films on Blu-ray gave the player incredible sharp picture quality, which made films have high definition. It also was the first to have social gaming service, which means people can talk online to each other and be able to play the same game using different consoles. The PlayStation 3 had many other features such as TV shows and top charts music. The console had the same controller as PlayStation.
Some of the games I played on the PlayStation 3 were Uncharted Drake’s Fortune. This game is an action-adventure platform game; it was the first game in the uncharted series. The player plays as a character called drake, the character finds a clue that is 400 years old and sets out to find treasure. The player fights bad guys that try to stop him, they are able to swim, jump, grab onto ledges and climb or swing from ropes. I like this game because of the story was really fascinating, I also like the genre for this because the game involves action and it has puzzles to solve. I thought the graphics was well made because the scenery and the character looked really realistic and it showed what the console can
