Veganism is a lifestyle that goes about excluding all things from one’s diet that causes harm to sentient beings such as dairy, eggs, and meat. There are many more benefits to being vegan other than being a “tree hugger”. Some of these are that it is much healthier to be vegan, the environment is being completely destroyed for animal agriculture, and vegans do not contribute to the suffering of sweet, adorable creatures. Global warming is a huge threat to our earth, and gasses are the leading cause of it. Animal agriculture produces more greenhouse gases than cars and trucks in the entire world combined. Methane is a type of gas that is increasing the temperature of the earth and cows and sheep as livestock cause 37% of it. Also the water needed to produce a pound of beef equals 1,800 gallons of water, versus a loaf of bread requiring 240 gallons. As the world's population continues to grow this will become more and more
