Does design using the biological theory effect violence in prisons?

Today due to user-centered design it makes designers reconsider their approach towards work and go deeper into the understanding of the target audience. Donald A. Norman in his book “The Design of Everyday Things” defines design as an act of communication, which means having the deep understanding of the person with whom the designer is communicating (Kopec, D. A. (2006)). In order to get better insight into people’s needs, designers are recommended to understand the psychological principles of human behavior and motivations. In this essay I will be comparing and analyzing two prisons to one another and thus in turn hopefully answering my essay question proving or disproving the idea that design has an impact on violence in prisons (Augustin, S. (2009).
