1a. When I first started the Virtual Child program, I decided to name my child Pam.

1b. My child’s name was first introduced in the 16th century by the poet Sir Philip Sidney. The name Pam translates to the the greek word which means “all sweetness”.

1c. Pam is a significant name to me because my best friend’s mom’s name is Pam. His mom is very sweet and I am very grateful for everything she has done for me.

2a. The differences in emotionality are described as the seven dimensions of temperament. The first dimension of temperament is activity level. Toddlers in this category frequently check for their mother and when the child explores, they use their mother or father as a secure base. When the child is separated from their parents the child usually cries; however, when their parent returns the child is very happy and quickly returns to normal and begins exploring again. The next type of attachment is insecure avoidant. These types of toddlers do not pay much attention to their parent when he or she is present. They also show no response when the parent leaves or returns. The next type of attachment is insecure resistant attachment. These types of toddlers are very clingy to their parents and are less likely to explore or play. These types of toddlers also show great distress and when their parent leaves them alone. However, when their parent returns the infant runs to their parent, but then he or she pushes away and shows resistance. The final type of attachment is disorganized disoriented attachment. In this type of attachment, when their parent leaves the room the child might seem dazed; however, the child can also have outbursts of anger. When their parent returns they seem conflicted or even afraid of their parent. This kind of attachment is also common for those suffering from autism, down syndrome, and it is also very typical in abuse or neglect …show more content…
Pam would best be classified in the secure attachment category. She is very shy and needs us to be with her before she feels comfortable. She also tends to get very upset when we are gone. Because of these qualities that Pam demonstrates, I feel that she fits best in the secure attachment category.
3c. Pam tends to be shy and slow to get involved at preschool, and tends to need teacher support at the start of new activities. Pam tends to need extra help in new or difficult situations, this would be another example from the Virtual Child program. I have noticed that Pam is a very curious child who likes to explore new places; however, Pam will not explore if my spouse or I are not present. These types of behaviors would mean that Pam fits best in the secure attachment
