What is a watershed? Many tend to think only bodies of water, such as rivers, creeks, and wetlands as only a part of a watershed. However, watersheds can be also described as an area of land that drains to the same location of a body water. From these bodies of water, they separate having different waters flow through from different rivers and seas. For most of us, we need to remember that a “watershed is more than just the water around us. It is also the air we breathe and the place we live, work and play that being shared alongside wildlife and plants.” “(ArgriumInc ,2014)”. Watersheds have no borders, national or international, and are a major key to having a healthy environment. Therefore, anyone along the way of our source of water impacts …show more content…
Erosion is the process in which the surface of an object begins to wear down. There are many types of erosion that occurs due to other environmental properties “(The State of Queensland, 2017).” The major causes of erosion are runoff and soil erosion. Runoff is the result of water draining away from a service area, from runoff, many times this can carry pollutants from the water. Soil erosion is the cause of soil being broken off or carried away and deposited somewhere else, usually by water or wind. Soil erosion causes a problem for many because it results in high water …show more content…
If there isn’t any non-profitable organization who could help us with the planting, we can ask people who will be willing to devote their time and energy to plant trees, bushes, and grass for us. We can start with a 50ft x 50ft area and expand upon as time goes on. We can use the seeds that are already available to us after the process has continued in order to save money and expand as well. Although trees, bushes, and grass can stop erosion during the spring and summer time, we can use rocks to stop erosion during the fall and winter time. The rocks can stop erosion by protecting the soil from being carried away from the precipitation. There are certain types of rock that can be used for limiting erosion and one of them is riprap. Riprap is basically used for erosion control, Riprap rocks are placed on top of the soil so when there is water flow it doesn't wash away the soil “(Wireless Estimator
