For my first job, I want to be a welder. I want to be a welder because of the good pay, the benefits, the opportunity to travel, and the high demand for experienced welders. Since there is a shortage of welders, the job of being a welder shouldn't be hard to find.

In Louisiana, the pay for welders isn't very great. I say this because in Louisiana the pay for a starter welder is about $36,000 a year whereas in Maine you make around $28,000 a year however, there are more jobs available so you wouldn't struggle to find a job. You could also argue that New Hampshire is a better place to work because their entry-level workers make around $40,000.

Speaking of availability, in the United States there's a shortage of welders, or at least experienced welders. I believe this is because people would rather be inside, working an office job or something of the sort. In Louisiana, an experienced welder can make in the $100,000 range, but that's only if you've been doing welders for a long time. This is good because in some office jobs, you have to work for up to a couple of years for a raise, whereas in welding you can either switch to a different site with better pay. Not only do they get health insurance, they get pretty good health insurance. They also can get PTO (paid time off). You can also get a 401k plan which is when you take a portion of your pre-tax income and invest it into investments over time. Welders have flexible scheduling, and they get the opportunity to travel to different states.

These reasons that have been previously stated are the 3 main reasons why I want to be a welder. I could see myself staying in the welding industry for a long time as well. Some people may consider welding a dangerous job, but the pay is good, the benefits are great, and the PTO/ flexibility is amazing as well. I think that more people should become
