Compare the Book and Film Versions of Storm-Boy
Storm-Boy is a book published in 1963 and a film produced in 1979 by Henri Safran. The book and film are thirteen years apart but are still very similar. The book Storm-Boy was written by Colin Thiele for children around the age of ten years and older. The author and director have both made a believable story about a little isolated boy.
Comparison of Plot Event Storm-Boy is about a boy who grows up with his father and finds friendship with pelicans he has no education because he lives like a hermit by the sea. In the book Storm-Boy lives with his father and an aborigine who he has known since his birth but in the film Storm-Boy only meets Fingerbone in the introduction. The movie starts off by showing long shots off Storm-Boy wearing bright colours in isolation while he is working hard. This is the resolution because Storm-Boy decides to go to school this does vary in both book and film for in the book Storm-Boy decides to go to boarding school in Adelaide whilst in the film he decides to go to Goolwa. The Director displays the best version of the resolution because when Mr Percival gets shot it is not so gruesome and Storm-Boy does not slowly watch Mr Percival
