Throughout the story, there are many comparisons between realism and dream-like situations. Oats uses many types of rhythms in her story, which shows her comparison with real-life events and dreamlike situations. This can be used in a bigger discussion of the topic to show the methods Oate’s uses to make her story. Adding comparisons to real-life/past events leaves readers intrigued and way more interested.
