People use race and gender to define themselves. Race and gender are huge part in society. Whether one is a male, female, black, white, Asian, or any other ethnicity, one has experienced judgment between one another. In the book “From Inquiry to Academic Writing” by Stuart Greene and April Lidinsky, there are a few articles about this topic. All people have experienced judgement at one point or another and these next few articles will show points relating to how people judge between gender, sex, and race. In the article “White Privilege: The Invisible Knapsack” by Peggy Mcintosh, she talks about how people with a white skin color are treated differently. The article states that “White privilege is like an invisible knapsack…” and then goes on to explain that whites have “…special provision, maps, passports, codebooks, visas, clothes, tools, and blank checks.” This article is simply sates that form birth white people have a more dominate and prestigious advantage over the other races, and then furthermore the article touches on how males “…work from a base of unacknowledged privilege.” meaning males have a more authoritative and privileged perspective just because of their gender. This article is about the fundamental of gender and sex and the roles they play. Warnke did studies on boys and girls to show theirs skills in different areas like writing, speech, and math. The result gained show boys are more likely to be worse at reading and writing because it is part of an “ideology of traditional masculinity” and then further explains that unless a man was a poet or a novelist, the male gender is not meant to go with words.
