Additionally, Odysseus has encounters with mythical creatures such as the Cyclops Polyphemus, and Scylla and Charybdis. The book shows us this in ways like showing Odysseus commanding his men to cling onto the bellies of the sheep to escape Cyclops. In addition to that, he also escaped Scylla and Charybdis. Odysseus did this by preparing his men to be ready to run into the monsters. He uses his quick thinking and realizes that avoiding both monsters is impossible so he makes the brave decision to head toward Scylla knowing the consequences would be much worse if they were to go through Charybdis. Nevertheless, Odysseus survives and makes it out of the tricky situation with the majority of his men still alive. In all, Odysseus is a brave man and can think quickly and make sacrificing decisions. Odysseus can command his men to the best of his ability, even if it means that some don't make it in the long run.
