Why did the Roman Empire Fall? When thinking back to ancient civilizations, one of the most pronounced of civilizations was that of the Romans. The Roman Empire itself, through its peak centuries, is today thought of with much high esteem. Though, arguably, most notably, its fall is what people tend to remember most about it. The reason for this falling out is highly debated amongst historians, classicists and students alike. Many people choose to agree with the general consensus that internal corruption was at fault for the empire's fall, but there are many reasons people have chosen to believe. Some think it was the many counts of war that precluded, some believe decadence is to blame, but one reason not many people take into consideration …show more content…
One of the things that most notably sticks out about this time in history is Roman engineering and architectural advancements. They built roads, bridges, sewers, aqueducts and invented and influenced many other things that are still prevalent today. Religion in ancient Rome began with polytheistic paganism. The Romans drew a great deal from the Greeks, incorporating many of their religious practices into the foundations of their own religion and culture. They shared many of the same Gods with their own Latin counterparts. They considered themselves to be very religious and attributed that to the strength of their society. Christianity was very opposite to the previous Roman religion, which involved many gods. This created tension because it was so different to Roman traditionalism. The teachings that came with Christianity were so contrary to traditional Roman religion and spoke against many things that were common in Rome at the time.
