Why did segregation happen or exist? Nevertheless segregation was bad! It tore the U.S apart, between the north and the south. People in the south supported segregation while people in the north supported integration. The south were violent, rude, and extremely harmful to blacks, the north were not. It was tense. People didn’t know who to trust. Black people feared white people and visa versa. Large angry mobs were common back then, only because some people didn't have fair wrights. In the Decleration of Independance it even clearly states “All men are created equal, with the unalienable right of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” Every book on segregation will tell you
