Have you ever had someone expect so much out of you in a sport? Well that is what society today continually does to athletes that are participating in competitive sports. A superior performance and successful execution has now become expected of the athlete. Every athlete at some point will face the obstacle of finding the means to achieve such a high level of performance. The athletes should use hard work, dedication, resources, and becoming a constant student of the sport, these are just a ways the athletes should go about getting better. Even though athletes have all of these admirable ways of improving their performance many athletes have chosen to take the easy, not to mention illegal, way out. Most of the time people refer this to anabolic steroids, but it also includes things such as human growth hormone (hGh), stimulants, and diuretics. Anabolic steroids can be taken orally, injected intramuscularly, or rubbed on the skin when in the form of gels or creams. These anabolic steroids have been around since the late 1930’s the drug was developed to primarily treat hypogonadism. Then during the 1930’s scientists discovered that anabolic steroids could facilitate growth of skeletal muscle. When people found this out it was first used by body builders and weightlifters and then led it to be taken by other sports.
