Communities that face discrimination need to be addressed and they need our support. However, this can prove to be a challenge when a majority of the population can’t see eye-to-eye with these groups. Even our own First Nations people continue to be treated in an unjust manner that they experienced decades ago and even today, they continue to struggle with balancing their place in society. For example, just by looking at how mainstream news outlets cover First Nations, you can see where a big part of the problem lies. Sexual orientation, religious beliefs and gender are factors used in prejudiced notions and I find that we haven’t found a proper solution to prevent it from happening. Pay gaps between males and females are still a noticeable drawback and since the gap is currently at 72%, it seems like workforces are still making it harder for an equality-based solution to be put in
