Why Do Professional Athletes Get Paid?

Professional athletes make millions of dollars every year. “For what,” some may ask, “playing In games and barely working?” Athletes that play more fan favorite sports such as football, baseball, and basketball can make up to 20 million a year sometimes even more. This may seem like a lot but when you think of the hours of work these athletes put into their crafts each and every day, the health risks they go through while they play their sport and into retirement, and how they beat the odds to make it to the professional level of their sport, athletes do get paid what they deserve.

Athletes that play in more violent sports such as football and hockey have to deal with the long-term health concerns of their sport. These sports have a history of shortening the lives of people that play in them. One of the biggest concerns in these sports are concussions. Concussions have been linked to suicides and alzheimer's disease in athletes that play these sports. Athletes risk their future health to entertain people and deserve to be paid fully.

Some of them start training as young as eight or nine years old. Most eight or nine year olds barely exercise but most of these child athletes have already started playing their sports at a youth level athletics, put all their focus on getting bigger, faster, stronger, so they have a better chance of going pro one day.
