What you are to do:
• Write a letter home – You are a soldier fighting in WWI. You may choose to write your letter from three different time periods of the war, (the beginning, middle or end).
• Your letter should follow the guidelines below based on which time period you choose:

Information on what caused the war, who was fighting who, and why you personally are fighting in the war should be included.
o Letter from the middle of the war – This letter should be from the middle of the war and focus on the soldier’s experiences in the trenches. Descriptions of your location/daily life (conditions, weapons in the trenches) and experiences in battles with your feelings and thoughts about your situation should be included.
o Letter from the end of the war – This letter should be from the end of the war on or near the armistice and describe the soldier’s thoughts about the end of the war. This includes how they feel about the armistice, what their view is of the war as a whole looking back on all their experiences (i.e. was it worth it?), and what their hopes or expectations are for the peace agreement.
