Schools and Parents can not blame the students; most students have HW, Jobs, Sports, and other things going on in their lives that make it hard for them to get to bed on time. Schools could help if they pushed back their start time. The author states, Among the 9,395 students in our study, those who slept eight or more hours each night were significantly less likely to report symptoms of depression, fall asleep in class, drink caffeinated beverages, have a phone or computer in their bedroom, and do dangerous things without thinking. The study shows that with more sleep, children greatly benefit from a variety of different things. It is common for sleep-deprived students to suffer from depression and have a higher risk of drinking.There is only one way we can ensure the younger generation has success and that is to ensure they are completely awake and can recall the information they have learned. Similar to contrary belief, this idea is not new: Many school districts have pushed back their starting times and have seen many positive
