Despite the advances of women in the workplace over the last several decades, stereotypes about women in the workplace are still widespread in many offices around our nation, specially where traditional male roles are prominent in corporate companies. According to the dictionary of sociology gender stereotypes is defined as one-sided and exaggerated images of men and women which are deployed repeatedly in everyday life. They are found commonly in the mass media because they operate as a widely understood shorthand. Stereotypes can be positive or negative, but they rarely communicate accurate information about others. In conclusion, the stereotyping of women in the workplace has created a significant cultural discussion in recent years, within the media, workplace, schools, and at home. The significance of culture myth regarding the stereotyping of women in the workplace, has become an important issue to discuss in the open. This paper, covers the most important aspects that affect stereotypes of women at the workplace, such as traditional gender labels, lower salaries, opportunities for advancement at work, and most of all stereotyping can become a discriminatory behavior.
