Year-round school If I were to be asked what I thought about year- round school then I would have to say no, I don’t think year-round school would be better for students. While the balanced school calendar allows for days off in fall, and more days off in winter it does not allow the students to hang with their friends as much as would be liked. When the students are released for summer break they make plans for family trips, trips with friends, and allow themselves some free time to be alone. This is not always possible within the three months that would be released for summer break. To further my reasons on why not to have year-round school is what is the point of increasing the amount of time off in winter when the weather is the judge on if they actually are able to go out and use those days off. For example I am going to Hill’s Alive in July, my brother David is coming up from Nebraska to visit in June. My family has also planned some time for fishing, camping, or just going somewhere out of Worland city limits, and I would like some time alone at home where I can relax before school start again. All of these plans would have to be altered in order to fit them into the new school schedule. A great multitude of students would agree with me that year-round schooling is just crazy. In the end we get the same amount of days off, so why not spend them at the same time were we can go somewhere and have fun with friends and family without having a timer sitting over our heads counting down from thirty days. More students would also not have as much time for church activities such as trips to Yellowstone to see buffalo, elk, and old faithful. I admit year-round schooling has its upsides when it comes to summer break being shorter, but like I said there just isn’t enough time for students and their family’s to fully enjoy summer
