“On September 11, 2001, 19 militants associated with the Islamic extremist group al-Qaeda hijacked four airliners and carried out suicide attacks against targets in the United States. Two of the planes were flown into the towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, a third plane hit the Pentagon just outside Washington D.C., and the fourth plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania.” (“9/11 Attacks”) These attacks were very devastating and over 3,000 people were killed. al-Qaeda, the terrorist group that were proven to be responsible for the attacks caused a lot of pain for the thousands of people who were killed in their acts of terror. al-Qaeda held naive beliefs about the United States in the run-up to the attacks. In the years prior to the attacks, bin Laden became very much convinced that America was weak. Khalid Sheikh Mohammed had dreamed of the strategic innovation of using hijacked planes to attack the United States. al-Qaeda had provided the money, personnel, and logistical support to perform the action. bin Laden constructed the attacks on New York and Washington into a larger tactical structure of attacking the United States, in order to bring about method change across the Middle East. Key parts of the September 11 plot took formation in Hamburg. A majority of the hijackers were from Saudi Arabia, a man named Mohammed Atta was the lead hijacker. They all traveled in small groups and some took commercial flight training. Mohammed Atta had kept Binalshibh updated on the plots through e-mail. He wrote the messages as if he were writing to his girlfriend “Jenny.” On September 5 Binalshibh left Germany for Pakistan, once he was there, he sent a messenger to Afghanistan to inform bin Laden about the day of the attack and its scope (¨September 11
