“After the 9/11 attacks, President George Bush announced that he would declare global war on terrorism, and he would fight terrorists and terrorist groups supporting 9/11.” (para. 3) (September.) This is significant because the American military wanted the rest of the world to know not to mess with America, “and twenty-six days later, the U.S. military began bombing Afghanistan.” (9/11 by the numbers.) This started the War in Afghanistan. “After the Americans declared war, the U.S. captured and killed many Al-Qaeda members, however, Osama bin Laden escaped to Pakistan, but he was later killed in Abbottabad, Pakistan in 2011.” (para. 3) (September.) This is important because after 9/11 the United States troops went to Afghanistan, trying to find the Al-Qaeda leader, Osama bin Laden, although the U.S. did not find bin Laden in 2001, they still managed to kill many major Al-Qaeda members. Later in 2011, the U.S. Navy Seals found him in Abbottabad, Pakistan, and killed him. These facts show how Americans felt after the attacks, and what they thought was needed to make up for the huge
