CASE STUDY: HOW FATS AFFECT YOUR BODY
PROBLEM: The purpose of this investigation is to determine the affects of fats on the human body.
INTRODUCTION: Three main types of dietary fat exist… unsaturated, saturated and Trans fat. No two fats affect the body and health in the same way. Fats help the body absorb fat-soluble vitamins as well as influence your heart health and the risk of type 2 diabetes. Proper intake of good nutrition is very important for everyone.
HYPOTHESIS: Fats , while there are no recommended daily dietary allowances must be monitored to maintain a healthy body. Proper intake of good nutrition is a very important to key to staying healthy.
EXPERIMENT: Unsaturated fats, (monounsaturated and polyunsaturated) are good fats that decrease the risk of heart disease. Eating a diet that includes good sources of polyunsaturated fat can lower the blood pressure and the risk of Type 2 diabetes.
Saturated fats come mainly from animal products, as well as coconut and palm oils. This fat is unhealthy for the body and can increase the chance of heart disease by increasing the LDL, or “bad cholesterol.” Decreasing fat is the main dietary cause of high LDL cholesterol. Decreasing the risk of heart disease by replacing the saturated fat in the diet with healthy unsaturated fat but not by replacing the saturated fat with other unhealthy nutrients, like carbohydrates.
Trans fat is the worst fat around. The Trans fat can both increase your LDL cholesterol and decrease the HDL cholesterol increasing the risk of heart disease. Consuming Trans fat will
