First, results are more often than not, inaccurate. It is also very inhumane and just plain wrong. Michael O. Leavitt says, "Currently, 9 out of 10 experimental drugs fail in clinical studies because we cannot accurately predict …show more content…
This is incorrect because truthfully, we don't need to test on animals to find cures. PETA says, "Forward-thinking scientists have developed humane, modern, and effective non-animal research methods. Including human-based micro-dosing, in vitro technology, human-patient simulators, and sophisticated computer modeling, that are cheaper, faster, and more accurate than animal tests." This just proves to us that we don't need to test on animals thanks to new technology. Some say, "Animals are here for humans to use. If testing on 100,000 animals for the life of one child, it's worth it." If we could save 1,00 children by experimenting on one intellectually disabled person, we wouldn't do it. The value of each life in and of itself cannot be superseded by its potential value to anyone else. Also, money wasted on experiments on animals is money that could instead be helping people, through the use of modern, human-relevant non-animal tests.
In conclusion, animal testing is cruel, inhumane, and has inaccurate results. Some still believe it helps cure diseases, but one of the most deadly things, cancer, HAS been cured in mice, yet people still die from it, waiting for a cure. We keep spinning on one's wheels, and for what? We continue to waste time and money, on something completely futile.
