Career Plan Essay My career plan for life after high school is to go to medical school and become either a physician assistant, pediatric nurse, or pediatrician. I’m mainly interested in becoming a physician assistant because they perform many of the same tasks as a physician, but under the supervision of a physician. These tasks include things such as conducting complete physical examinations, providing treatment for the patient, and counseling their patients. Physician assistants usually work full time, about 40 hours per week, sometimes even more, as they may have to pick up additional shifts. In Washington, the job outlook is about 23% for physician assistants, and they have an average salary of about $138,642, which I feel is a good amount …show more content…
These traits are most fitting for careers in the health sciences cluster, and the pathways of therapeutic services and biomedical research & development. I learned that my main learning style is visual learning and auditory, meaning I learn better when being able to see visual examples (diagrams, pictures, graphs, etc.). Read about the topics, and listen to the topics like things such as lectures. In my interest profile my main three highest results of interest were Investigative, Enterprising, and Social. Intro to health careers introduced me to the wide field of the medical and healthcare field, by providing lessons, units, and doing a bit of a deep dive into each of the different types of health sciences careers. We went through a lesson about the therapeutic services pathway and the categories, and I found that I was very interested in the medical and nursing category, but especially medical. My plan to achieve my goals to get me closer to getting into the post-secondary education that I want, are to take and complete the needed highschool courses that are required by my dream colleges and universities, take and pass highschool courses that relate to the health sciences cluster, and maintain both a good GPA and grades above a C. There will be of course some challenges that I’ll face when trying to achieve these goals, but I’ll come up with solutions. How I’ll maintain grades above C’s, is if I’m struggling with any work in a class, I’ll ask for help from the teacher or from classmates that understand the lesson and retake any assignments with a low grade, which will also help to keep my GPA at a 3.0 or higher. To be able to take the highschool required courses for post secondary education(s) that I want to go to is to do research on the needed highschool courses and discuss with my counselor on being put in those classes if I’m not already
