Also, it may have been suspected that she expected affection from Ken too. Before having an affair with Rob, she must have“devalued” Ken for not returning the affection back to her.
3. Identity disturbance: markedly and persistently unstable self-image or sense of self.
Diane had several sudden and dramatic shifts in self-image, which is characterized in her shift in goals. For instance, she has attempted college three times for different careers (quit each time). According to the DSM-5 (2013), “such experiences usually occur in situations in which the individual feels a lack of a meaningful relationship, nurturing, and support.” The case does mention her non-existing meaningful relationship, nurturing, and support from her mother and sister.
4. Impulsivity in at least two areas that are potentially self-damaging (e.g., spending, sex, substance abuse, reckless driving, binge eating). (Note: Do not include suicidal or self mutilating behavior covered in Criterion
