Breast Cancer Prevention
Breast cancer affects more women in the U.S. than any other malignancy. Based on this article, “Hormone prevention strategies for breast, endometrial, and ovarian cancers”, there are three approaches that work to prevent breast cancer. The prevention methods are as follows: SERMS (Tamoxifen, Raloxifene), Al, and Oophorectomy. SERMS are selective estrogen receptor modulators which materialized as the first class of therapeutic agents. SERMS, such as Tamoxifen and Raloxifene, are used to block estrogen from binding to the receptor (“Hormone prevention strategies”).
