Cassius, taking a huge role in the assassination of Caesar, fled with Brutus and the other conspirators after killing Caesar. Cassius devised a war strategy after pulling together an army from Syria. Cassius later combined armies with Brutus in order to take on Antony and Octavian in the battles of Philippi. After a defeat in the first battle of Philippi and misinterpreting celebration from his friend with an allied army, Cassius thought it was best to take his own life.
