“Delegation, a critical leadership skill, must be learned and implemented to accomplish patient care in a timely and cost-effective manner (Yoder-Wise, 2015, p. 496).” Delegation is an important part of nursing considering that when you delegate a task to a team member you are entrusting them to complete it without putting the patient or fellow nurses in any harm. As a delegator it is important to know the limitations and expectations of any task(s) delegated and if the task is within the scope of practice of the delegate.
