CONSTRUCTED RESPONSE 1.

As you run around your couch playing with your sibling, you can't help but wonder what it would be like to be an only child. Well, from 1980 to 2008, being an only child was the norm in China due to the one-child policy. The policy was enforced as an effort to keep China's population under control by only letting Chinese families have one child. So did the one-child policy positively impact China? Some may say no, however, the one-child policy was a good idea because it decreased fertility rates, decreased pollution and increased the standard of living.

Over the years, fertility rates in China have significantly declined. According to Document B, the fertility rates started at a whopping 5.8 in 1970 to 1.7 in 2008.
