The activity conducted in this hour was mainly related to Easter. The students were given a drawing of a large egg and markers to color with and scissors for cutting. …show more content…
Parker noticed few students were not following directions. She asked the students to put down their markers and repeated the instructions once more. Two boys were constantly talking, when they did not stop talking after the first warning, their places were changed so that they could stay on task and not distract the rest of the students. The class in general was much disciplined and on task throughout my observation.
5. What did you think about the teaching you observed?
Ms. Parker’s assistant teacher was not present this day. Therefore, keeping students engaged and busy with the coloring activity gave her a chance to work with a small group of students and test their recollection of previously learned words and their spellings. This also allowed students to work independently. I could see how Ms. Parker had planned her day with these students keeping in mind that the students get to interact with each other in large group and small group activities and also work independently at some point.

This was my last hour of observation for this course. By observing kindergarten and pre-k classrooms, I have been able to connect many of the teachings of our textbook with the instructional strategies of real life teachers. I have been able to see how teachers maintain discipline in class with positive guidance and at the same time maintain positive relationships with each and every
