The three branches of government in America are the executive branch, the legislative branch, and judicial branch. To ensure the government is effective and citizens’ rights are protected, each branch has its own powers and responsibilities, including working with the other branches. But, there is a system that makes sure that these powerful branches don’t become to powerful. This system is called checks and balance. The legislative branch which is Congress make the laws. The executive branch has the right to veto laws and sign the laws. The judicial branch decides if the laws are constitutional and enforces them.
