Displaying the southern pride and heritage flag is similar to saying one is supportive of slavery. Most inferior minorities associate the confederate flag as a sign of racism, while the superior whites do not. Wrights explains some flags represent good, including the American flag which symbolizes our country’s pride. We associate the American flag with independence and freedom. It was well put together and arranged by stars and strips of different colors, each meaning something different from the other. Everywhere a person goes they will see the American flag whether it be a school, store, or bank. Through the American flag we can be sure that America is “one nation, under God.” We recite the pledge of allegiance while looking at the flag to remind ourselves of the liberties that we have.
