Throughout this course it has become apparent that critical thinking skills are a crucial part of every individuals day to day life. The use of these skills helps to allow us as people to expand our knowledge and to be able to interpret information to the best of our abilities. For this essay I would like to focus on one of the most significant skills involved in critical thinking and that is to be able to analyze and determine the difference between fabricated and real information that is being presented to whoever it may concern. It is important to remember that thinking requires the representation of knowledge and concepts and can sometimes be limited if a person is not completely informed on the given subject (French and Rhoder, 14). Our critical thinking skills allow us to be analytic, and take a process of understanding the patterns, relationships and concepts of a subject matter before we make a thorough conclusion. The newly acquired information we gain from one source is used to construct a deeper internal knowledge structure which effects our mental processing of information (Halpern, 16). Therefor it is very important that the information that we consider to be factual actually be supported by research and be easily proven because otherwise we are only going to cause harm to our understanding of the world around us.
