In todays’ society, there is a vast array of political issues that lay on the table of democracy, coinciding while reflecting religious values. “Cultural Wars” transformed American groups into ideological front-line battlefields. While Wald, shows light to America’s religious ideology as diverse, with signification divisions occuring on the “moral-cultural issues (Wald 184)”; with degrees of separation within religious groups (Wald 183-185). In regards to analysts and opinion leaders, an importance of heeding is derived from the social changes transitioning in the past few decades; gay rights, abortion, and welfare reform. When the economic recession the country fell to its knees on, in such financial devastation, changes occurred in the moral-cultural values. While some steadfast not to heed the government as being a security system for a job, partisan lines were crossed with ideology on the government to help out the financial struggling people. In not adhering to the red and blue states, there is a gray area, where race, income, and ethnic background change dynamics. Consequently with the recession, swing voters comprised of Catholics and Protestants by means of “moral and individualistic principles (Wald 186)” and crossed partisan lines (Wald 186-187).
