The current state of being a Dentist includes duties such as," diagnose and treat problems with patients’ teeth, gums, and related parts of the mouth. They provide advice and instruction on taking care of the teeth and gums and on diet choices that affect oral health." the Bureau of Labor Statistics states. In other words ,Dentists treat problems, diagnose ,and give guidance to their patients to ensure they understand cooperation is a major key to success. In addition, the Bureau of Labor Statistics states, " Dentists in private practice oversee a variety of administrative tasks, including bookkeeping and buying equipment and supplies." which means they need to be organized, have leadership skills, and be responsible. American Dental Association states, "Isaac Greenwood, who began practicing dentistry in 1779, is considered to be the first American-born dentist, and had four sons, whom three began practicing Dentistry."(Source F) In other words, Isaac Greenwood's sons were inspired by their fathers ability/profession; so they followed into their father's footsteps in pursuing a Dental Career strengthening the movement of the soon to be known profession called Dentistry. Another example, from the American Dental Association, states, "By the 19th century, the United States had become the leading centre in the world for Dental developments."(Source F) Three-Hundred years into the future, the United States becomes the World's Centre of Dental Developments; though in those three-hundred years, three major events happened that made Dentistry the profession it is today.In 1839 the first Dental journal, "American Journal of Science" was launched, in 1840 the first Dental school was established called, "The Baltimore College of Dental surgery", and in 1840, the first national society of dentists, 'American Society of Dental Surgeons" founded in New York City, thus in the making of the profession, …show more content…

In other words, the growing and aging baby-boom generation will need dental work, because each future generation are more likely to keep their teeth than past generations thus, meaning they will still need dental work.
