Do Zoos Do Good In Captivity?

For many decades zoos have been an organization to educate and show case animals that the average person has never seen before. Zoos are displaying a vast variety of animals only for amusement of visitors and in some cases are used for acting, but what people do not see is that animals in captivity do not do very well and are prone to a variety of mental and physical problems. For example lions are meant to travel long distances to find its meal and then hunt it down and enjoy their reward that they worked for. In zoos lions lives are easy, they do not have to hunt or travel. Which explains why lions along with other mammals do not do good in captivity because they are not getting their regular exercise that they would in the wild. In zoos a lions diet consist of fatty chicken necks and combine this without any exercise it will lead to extreme weight gain and a shorter life span. Lions should not be in zoos just so they can show case them and make zoos money, lions need freedom so they can have a healthy and a happy life in the wild. …show more content…
These are very important components for lions so they can have a happy life and keep a stable mood, but instead they are held in cramped enclosures where they cannot get their regular exercise to keep their minds creative and no privacy whatso ever. Living in these conditions have a huge impact on the lions wellbeing, they could contract a condition that is known to cause animals do unnatural behavior for example causing them to pace back and forth and in extreme circumstances they could hurt themselves or other animals,
