Discussion:
The questions that are being investigated is whether or not pH affects the rate of reactivity of an enzyme, and what the optimal pH for the enzyme is. The answer to these questions are yes, pH affects the reactivity rate of an enzyme, and the optimal pH for the enzyme is about 9.
Answering the questions, pH greatly affects the rate of reactivity of an enzyme. This is evident in figure 2 above. Looking at the trend of the data, when the pH was either too basic, or too acidic, the rate of reactivity was very low. This happens because of denaturation. Enzymes have an optimal pH, and work very well in those optimal conditions. If an enzyme has a pH, that is not at optimal condition, the enzyme can break apart, and no longer function.
