Not getting enough sleep can lead to depression, alcohol/drugs, and being overworked. Not getting enough sleep can lead to sleep deprivation. This affects people both physically and mentally. Sleep schedules should match their biological clocks. “Most people wake up to alarms, because they don't naturally wake up at that time when they have to get up and go to work or school. So today is a sleep deprived society - it’s just that this age group, say 14-24 in particular, is more deprived than any other sector” (Kelley). Scientist say that the public doesn't pay attention the body clock anymore. Instead people listen for alarms and force ourselves to wake up early. There is an unbalanced rhythm between sleep and school. According to biological clocks, kids need 8 ½ to 9 ½ hours of sleep. Anything less than that can lead to sleep deprivation and lack of energy and concentration. Sleep deprivation has a negative effect effect on kids. Especially with their health and learning. “Sleep deprivation causes irregular sleep patterns that can hurt the quality of sleep. Since the weekend sleep schedule often ends up being much different from the weekday schedule as teens may try to catch up on lost sleep”
