The Pasadena City College Child Development Center (CDC) is truly a gem amongst child care centers. Upon walking into the building, I felt excitement and anticipation to start my observation. My observation took place on Thursday, February 25th from 8 to 9 am. The CDC cares for a variety of children: infants age 4 to 15 months, young toddlers age 16 to around 24 months, as well as older toddlers age 25 through 36 months, and preschoolers 3 to 4 years of age. Also the CDC offers an Early Primary/Transitional Kindergarten program for children 4 to 5-years-old. I found the environment very safe, the reason I say this is because during the hour I conducted my observation there were four specialists in the classroom and two infants. The team work I witnessed impressed me very much. Neither infant was left unattended or overlooked at any point, I realize there were only two infants present at the time, but I could tell that the system and the team work that I witnessed was second nature to these specialists. At no point was there any need for verbal clarification or explanations amongst themselves. As an example, one specialist Ms. Patty, noted that Rosalinda (an infant in the class) was hungry, at that point Ms. Pricilla, another specialist, who was nearby interacting with Judy (an infant in the class) came closer and included Rosalinda in her play with Judy, this gave Ms. Patty an opportunity to prepare food for Rosalinda while Judy, Rosalinda and Ms. Pricilla played together. While conducting my observation I got the opportunity to see several interactions like the above mentioned. The best comparison I could think of is a ballet, where everyone knows what they need to do, why they’re there and that they need to work together in harmony. Safety was present at all
