In Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet, Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet are two lovers from quarreling families. This antagonism causes the two lovers to kill themselves in a tragic turn of events after attempting a treacherous plan. In the end, Friar Lawrence is the individual responsible for their death. Friar Lawrence’s hastily put together plan is the reason that Romeo and Juliet needlessly committed suicide. This is shown when Friar Lawrence fabricates a plan to have Juliet fake her death with a potion that will make her unconscious for over a day then Friar John is supposed to deliver a letter to Romeo informing him of the plan so he can sneakily take Juliet away and they can live the rest of their days together (Act 4).
