Anyone who has graduated from school and has looked for a job knows that a fundamental education is key to later life success. After Premont High expelled sports, a former quarterback, named Nathan, explains, “There was all this extra time, you never get behind on your work.” (Ripley 11). Sports are a distraction, “During football season in particular, focus shifts away from learning.” (Ripley 11). This data proves that unless children intend to become pro athletes, school sports are a lost cause, and if they really do want to go pro they will join a club sport. The evidence enlightens the simple truth, school sports are undoubtedly a waste of time.
By eliminating school sports students and districts will receive more time for academics, substantial savings, and fortuitous time.
