This means that there needs to be an increase in government spending and legislation to improve mental health screenings and treatments. The immediate consequences of gun violence are injuries and fatalities, but there are also long-term consequences such as mental health, social cohesion, and economic well-being. Examples of consequences for survivors of gun violence include physical disabilities, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), financial costs from healthcare expenses, and loss of income from not being able to work. The many consequences of gun violence include more than just the immediate victims and the perpetrators. The entire community around the violence is
