World War 1 saw massive leaps in technology and weaponry. “Humans proved themselves remarkably ingenious and adaptable when it came to finding new ways to maim and kill during the First World War” (“Weapons Of World War I | Historynet”). The Eastern Front had a profound impact on the rest of the 20th century(Burbeck). The communist revolt in Russia changed the world as we knew it but it may not have happened without the Russian deaths on the Eastern Front. The Eastern Front started on August,17,1914 when Russia invaded Eastern Prussia. The Germans then planned a counter offensive and this would come to be know as the battle of Tannenberg on August 30, where the Germans lost to the Russians.
