Pre-World War II, the world went through many eras of instability, with the Great Depression and other global problems. In World War I, horse wagons and stretchers were among the only ways to transport injured in many places and barges had to be used as hospitals to help the wounded. World War II’s inevitable course started not long after World War I, with the treaty of Versailles crippling the German economy. This economy started looking for a savior to help rebuild and the Nazi regime of Adolf Hitler was founded. Hitler’s desire for more land and resources drove him to take over Czechoslovakia and other parts of Europe. The Blitzkrieg of Poland led to the declarations of war on Germany and led to the beginning of World War 2. The years of fighting led to many atrocities and heroes, with the Holocaust and battle of Stalingrad as well as the 800 soldiers who defended Shanghai and the heroes of D-Day who risked their lives to start the downfall of the Nazi empire. …show more content…
