In 2014, there were approximately 11.3 million undocumented immigrants in the United States, with half of them being of Mexican descent. Are immigrants good or bad for our economy? Do they benefit us or do they drag us down as a country? There are many reasons why people have different opinions on illegal immigration and many are not aware if illegal immigration benefits our society or not. When bad events that occur, and which immigrants are blamed for, can have a negative impact on how immigrants are perceived. On the other hand, when positive events happen, people change their point of view on illegal immigrants.

During the 1920’s, legal immigration had become a heated topic now. This is when the government started reinforcing the immigration law becoming overwhelmed with a number of legal immigrants coming to America. The government began to set a number on how many immigrants can come into America. Year after year the government has shortened the number. The Great depression came along and the number of immigrants dropped drastically. After the stock market crash, the government immediately became strict with visa rules limiting all immigrants not just Hispanics. In the early 1940’s is when the Illegal immigrants became a problem. Political figures began to talk about this problem. Americans stated that “Aliens” are not welcome into America. Despite Americans not wanting immigrants in their country anymore, America needed them. America’s war years began and we needed works to keep our economy flowing while Soldiers fought for our country. This forced the government to set immigration programs. The United States government's plan was to have immigrants work until the soldiers could come back and reclaim their jobs, then the immigrants could go back to their country, unfortunately, it did not work out like that. Most illegal immigrants are here to have a better life for themselves and family, they’re here to work hard to earn money. A small portion of immigrants come to America to do crimes, I can guarantee the rest are here to work even create businesses. There is evidence the immigrants are more likely to have a business of their own then Americans. Think about it immigrants are giving themselves jobs not taking an American's job and is also creating more job for our economy. They are bringing in more money than we had before. The more people in America, the more the demand will be for local consumer goods once again bringing in money. Immigrants also save cities. When a city is dying down, immigrants will come in and repopulation the city, saving it. We must also remember immigrants help us build our country, not just economically but physically. They did the dirty jobs for us, build our buildings, railroad, brought us new information and has also created technology that we still us today to develop our country to our advantage. How could we just turn our backs on immigrants that would make our economic system worst, we would be
